The experience

East Java rewards the slow traveler, and this expedition is built for them. Beyond Bromo's caldera, you'll stand at the foot of Tumpak Sewu — a thousand streams falling in a semicircle through jungle — and watch Semeru, Java's highest peak, puff its clockwork smoke on the horizon.

The route threads waterfalls, rice terraces, highland plantations and quiet black-sand beaches, with nights in hand-picked mountain lodges. It ends where it should: back at the caldera for one last sunrise — earned this time.

Meet at Surabaya and drive south to the Tumpak Sewu highlands.
